The objective for the most recent four site visits included continuation of the core competencies, which are personal and professional accountability, ethics, and active membership in a professional organization. During the four site visits, I will also continue to work on the process improvement project. On June 15, TV and I sat down and went over my objectives for this week’s shadowing and what I would like for her to help me with. The next ethics meeting is on the 18th which I will attend. For now one of my goals is to interview a nursing administrator who is an active member of a professional organization. TV made several phone calls and found several administrators who are members of a professional nursing organization. However, everyone she contacted only held memberships, not active members. I attended several meetings with TV regarding things such as FY16 budget, trauma root cause analysis, temporary relocation of the ER for construction of a new building, and a meeting with human resources regarding a new time clock system. TV was able to reach one administrator who agreed to sit and talk with me about professional organizations. NR is an Administrative Director and holds a membership to several professional organizations. She is a fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives, is a Certified Emergency Nurse and received a certificate as a nurse advocate from the Texas Nurses Association.
