In the article “Why Reddit and other companies don 't let job candidates negotiate their salaries”, the main point focuses on why some companies don’t negotiate pay with potential employees. Reasoning behind this is includes trying to foster transparency and ease gender wage gaps. Elevations, a company that supports this, helped with employee discontent and improved recruitment efforts by setting salaries based on job titles and posting them online. The article goes on to explain that women are less likely to negotiate for higher pay, which ultimately contributes to gender wage gaps. Future consequences of this could widen the gap if companies don’t follow through or grant certain people immunity from this rule. This would be a good idea if it eventually narrowed the gender pay gap, and might give women more incentive to work, thus raising the employment population.
