Childhood Obesity in America: Blame Fast-Food! Throughout the United States, the young people of America are among the portion of the increasing rate of various health effects. A diverse amount of children is affected by an assortment of health issues which are caused by a lack of physical activity and a nutritious diet. In fact, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention “Obesity now affects 1 in 6 children and adolescents in the United States” (“Childhood Overweight,” 2015). In today’s modern day and age, one trend that has become so popular in our society are fatty and sugary foods. American children grow up to exposure to these unhealthy foods that they are more likely to attain a poor diet. Therefore, children should be educated about the mental and physical effects of having a poor diet along with a lack of physical activity. In addition, children should be provided with solutions for preventing such mental and physical effects. Driving through highways in America and without a doubt you are guaranteed to find a variety of fast-food restaurants at every exit. The average population is so accustomed to consuming large quantities of fast-food daily. No doubt, fast-food meals are quick and easy to make and come with a cheap price. Although fast-food meals bring temporary satisfaction to people it can also bring adverse side effects to one’s physical and mental wellness.
