Comparing Coordinated Care Organizations and Accountable Care Organizations
We will be comparing and contrasting Accountable Care Organizations and Coordinated Care Organizations. We will define and discuss what Accountable Care Organization and Coordinated Care Organization are. Also will discuss some of the other features to include providers, governance, and payments. One of their similarities is managing their patients and to decrease the cost from managed care. Even though Accountable Care Organizations came out of the Affordable Care Act law. Coordinated Care Organizations came out of Accountable Care Organizations model.
Accountable Care Organizations (ACOs) are groups of doctors, hospitals, and other healthcare providers, who come together voluntarily to give coordinated high quality care to their Medicare patients. "Innovative partnerships like this will enhance care coordination, improve health outcomes and eliminate unnecessary spending," said Tom Beeman, President and CEO of Lancaster General Health. "This approach will encourage clinicians to provide the highest-quality care as efficiently as possible, while stabilizing costs for both patients and employers."
