The main goal for Stop.Thick.Connect. campaign is to get American people to understand the consequences of using the Internet if used wrongly and the campaign pushes a more secure usage of the Internet (Homeland Security – Cyber Security). Even with the added security from all branches in the Department of Homeland Security, the United States still struggles with terrorist attacks. Between 2001 and 2013 there has been around 60 known plots of terrorist attacks. There have been four instances where the terrorist group got the best of the Department of Homeland Security and succeeded in their efforts to kill Americans. In 2006 a vehicle was purposely driven into a crowd of students on the campus of the University of North Carolina, there were nine injuries and no deaths. In 2009 there was a drive-by shooting in Little Rock, Arkansas at an army-recruiting center where two Privates were shot and killed. Also in 2009 there was a shooting perpetrated by U.S. Army Major Nidal Hasan, where he shot and killed 13 people and injured more than 30 others at Fort Hood near Killeen, Texas, and last but not least the bombing of the Boston Marathon in 2013.
