Literary Analysis In my literary analyst I have chosen to analyze the short story “Hills Like White Elephants” by Ernest Hemingway and also the drama “Macbeth” by William Shakespeare. I have chosen these two pieces of literature because the conflicts in both of the stories are individual versus individual. In my literary analysis I hope to identify the conflict, literary techniques, and also similarities and differences between both short stories. The conflict in the story “Hills Like White Elephants” is individual vs individual. The reason why it is individual versus individual is because the man and the women cannot come to an agreement about whether to have an operation or not. The conflict in the drama “Macbeth” is individual vs individual as well. The reason why it is individual versus individual is because Macbeth is jellous that King Duncan is the King, so Macbeth and Lady Macbeth have an underlying plan to kill King Duncan. In the story “Hills Like White Elephants” there are three literary techniques that pop out at me conflict, simile, and climax. In the drama “Macbeth” the three literary techniques that I chose that support the story are symbolism, metaphor, and conflict. The literary elements from both pieces of literature help to represent the main conflict in the short story and the drama.
