“Management is efficiency in climbing the ladder of success; leadership determines whether the ladder is leaning against the right wall” Stephen Covey. Being a manager takes a great deal of hard work, dedication, and persistence. Since managers are leaders there are many skills that they must have. They must be able to speak and connect with their employees, they must be able to solve problems swiftly and effectively. Managers have to be the rock that holds together the company, they are the light at the end of the tunnel for their staff. In order to even have managers, the creator of the company mist have a well thought out and clear business plan. The plan should have “a detailed description of how the business will work.” (J.D, 2008) They need to have thought out the process to an extensive level. What functions need to be done. How those functions should be carried out. When those functions should be done. As an example, a business that sells their own brand of hair products has several functions that need to be completed. They need a place to create the hair products. This locations needs employees to man the equipment. They need people to keep the facility clean. They need people unload shipments of products. They need people to organize products in a store room. They need people to keep and inventory of products. They need people to order more products. They need people to load the finished product.
