“It won’t be this easy in college.” I believe every high school teacher has said something around those lines at least once to their students. While the statement is somewhat true, the idea can easily be debunked with the statement “It is only as hard as you make it to be.” My experience with English 1010 was that it indeed was challenging, but not hard. I stayed on top of my assignments and did my best on them so I wouldn’t feel the assignment was completed half-heartedly. I have efficiently met the Essential Learning Outcomes by working through the whole writing process, reading then analyzing articles, and writing to convey an idea.
Reading and analyzing scholar articles helped with my overall thought process. Working through articles written in an academic manor has helped with the way I write my own essays. The assignment “Reading, Analyzing and Discussing Dan Slater’s ‘A Million First Dates: How Online Dating is Threatening Monogamy.’” Improved my skills of digging deep to what ideas the author wanted me to know from the article and what ideas he wanted me to infer on my own. Practicing article analysis this semester has aided me in discovering the ideas that are provided in a form of writing. Not only did I further my skill of finding ideas in papers, I also progressed in my own ideas. As I moved into my second essay’s pre-write. I found it easier for my ideas to form.
