For a long time, psychology has been an area that I’ve been consistently drawn to. Originally, the thing that brought about my interest was human behavior and how it can be analyzed and interpreted; and also what drives our behavior. Going along with my previous statement, serial killers are another reason I wanted to learn as much as I possibly could about psychology. I started reading about them when I was between the ages of 12 and 13, first about the well-known ones that I had already heard a little about and then I moved onto the lesser-know ones. Now that I look back on it, it probably scared my parents but I just couldn’t rid myself of that curiosity. That’s the main reason I chose psychology as my major; I wanted to study it and learn absolutely everything about it. At first, I was really only interested in the darker parts of psychology like serial killers and the mental illnesses that are too often portrayed in an overly-negative light but I now know that there is so much more to it than that. Those parts of my reason for choosing to be a psychology major still remain but it has been greatly expanded upon. For instance, I want to use it to help people. More specifically, I plan to become a child psychologist by using the knowledge and skills I obtain from my education. I’ve known that I wanted to work with kids for a while now but I wasn’t completely sure about how I wanted to work with them. I knew that being a pediatrician or a pediatric nurse just was not for…
