Should Gay Marriage Be Legalized? Essay

Homosexual marriage has been legalized in all fifty states as of recently. With this, any couple can get married whenever and wherever they want to with their significant other. The gay marriage movement, (in the United States) can be traced back to June 28th, 1969 in New York City. Police raids on gay bars were common, but on this day lesbian and gay patrons fought back. These were called the stonewall protests. Between 1969 and 1774 the number of gay rights movement organizations dramatically increased for less than 50 to over a thousand.
Opponents to the idea of gay marriage say that gay marriage would weaken the institution of marriage and ruin the family values that a traditional family would have and they would try to stop the legalization of gay marriage at all cost. For gay and lesbian couples, they would use laws to oppress people that just want the basic goals as any normal couple.
