Social Entrepreneurship plays an important role in America and throughout the world and these individuals seek to make significant contributions to society. According to Ashoka.org a social entrepreneur is defined as: “Individuals with innovative solutions to society’s most pressing social problems. They are ambitious and persistent, tackling major social issues and offering new ideas for wide-scale change.” These individuals take it upon them elves to help members of societies thrive in many capacities. A social entrepreneur can seek to improve living conditions, food quality, provide clean water, education, and even vaccinations to name a few causes. In many cases government or for profit companies cannot deliver these types of services effectively in the eyes of a social entrepreneur so they take up these causes themselves. A social entrepreneur in many cases is driven by their own personal passion to help and create change in place where others have given up, or where others may not see these causes as a profitable venture. In many cases governments or private sector companies lack the nimbleness or ingenuity to deliver services on this level.

Like any individual in business social entrepreneurs are faced with risks.
