A. Explain how variables such as social interactions, cognitive processes, environmental variables, cultural context, and biological factors shape what social psychology is all about and how it is practiced.

Social interactions, cognitive processes, environmental variables, cultural context, and biological factors shape what social psychology is all about and how it is practiced in that social psychologists are mostly interested in an individual with emphasis on all the things that make an individual who they are and why they act and think the way that they do socially (Baron, Branscombe, & Bryne, 2008).

B. Choose one of the "cutting edge" issues discussed in the text, and explain its significance in modern social psychology.

The cutting edge that I chose from the text is “The Role of Implicit (Nonconsious) Processes. The significance of this cutting edge idea to social psychology is almost like the idea of biological factors in that it is very hard to prove and identify if these factors are present however there has been significant research that points to the idea that these types of factors absolutely contribute to how and why we behave the way that we do. Research suggests that in many cases we do not know why we think or behave the way we do in social situations (Baron, 2008). These unknown behaviors of ours can make us think, behave, and react to certain social environments in a way we don’t understand but are readily willing to try to make an explanation for. With that being said, this factor has to be understood and considered in social psychology in order to obtain the most accurate analysis of individuals and their behaviors.
