There are multiple responsibilities you take on when becoming a manager, anywhere from ethical to social. Social responsibility is defined as the obligation and commitment of managers to take steps for protecting and improving society 's welfare along with protecting their own interest (n.d., 2015). The many social responsibilities you take on as a manager are: organizational resources, precautionary measure, moral obligation, efficient and effective employees, and a better organizational environment (n.d., 2015). These responsibilities are not free from criticisms such as: high social overhead cost, cost to society, and profit maximization (n.d., 2015). With being a manager comes a lot of responsibility and reliability- your name and business is on the line and you can succeed or fail. Social responsibility is one of the most important duties of a manager and it adds significant value to a company. Organizations use different resources to accomplish goals such as: human resources, financial resources, physical resources, and information resources. Managers are responsible for acquiring and managing these resources to accomplish goals. This is a very vital social responsibility because if managers didn’t acquire these resources then it would make it nearly impossible to accomplish goals. A priority, so to speak, of a manager should be to deal with the social issues before the issues turn into a disaster, in turn consuming a large part of management’s time.…
