Introduction As a young child everyone asks you what you want to be when you grow up, I have always said that I want to help people but I wasn’t sure what I wanted to be. As I grew older, I have decided that I want to become a social worker. Although I still undecided on what type of social work. I am between a foster care worker or an adoption counselor. I have a love for kids, and I believe that each and every child in the world deserves a loving family and place that they can call home. Although I would like to be one of these two types of social workers, there are many different other types of social workers. Social workers are resources for help. Becoming a social worker would make me feel like I am making a difference in people’s lives.
What are Social workers?
Social workers are highly trained and experienced professionals. Only those who have earned social work degrees at the bachelor’s, masters or doctoral levels—and completed a minimum number of hours in supervised fieldwork—are professional social workers. The practice of social work requires knowledge of human development and behavior, of social, economic and cultural institutions, and of the interaction of all these factors. Social workers help people of all backgrounds address their own needs through psychosocial services and advocacy.
