The American English Language is in a constant state of flux and it has been since the founding of America. The language we all speak is constantly changing based on what is going on and in the influences in the world around us. There are many different factors why our language changes so much. Historically American English has evolved from the British English of the 1700s to the current English we speak today. Two present factors that have influenced American English in the 21st century and has caused it to change are social media and the immigrants coming to the United States. English began as a primary language in the United States from the founding of America by the British. In the 1700s, American English sounded like this, “When in the course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature’s God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation” which came from the Declaration of Independence in 1776 July 4th. As more immigrants traveled to America, the people already living there were influenced by the new people. In the 1800s, Abraham Lincoln stated in his Gettysburg Address that “Four score and seven years ago….But, in a larger sense, we can not dedicate - we can not consecrate - we can…
