Early Childhood Education seems to be the major many college students pursue. However, being a teacher comes along with many duties and expectations. For example, teachers have to make lesson plans, follow their state’s standards, make sure individual child needs are met, and adequately prepare each child for the next grade. Teachers are expected to perform at their highest capabilities by professionally educating and interacting with students and other colleagues. Being a teacher is not all that simple like most people believe. Teachers are expected to be able to participate in a team like manner. Teachers should be devoted to their profession and teach with care, sincerity, and compassion. The field of education and psychology can relate in various ways. The behavioral perspective can be demonstrated in teaching. The typical daily routine of a teacher “relies heavily on quantitative methods, including testing and measurement, to enhance educational activities related to instructional design, classroom management, and assessment, which serve to facilitate learning processes in various educational settings” (Educational Psychology). Operant conditioning plays a key role daily in a teacher’s classroom. In early childhood education there has to be consequences whenever a child disobeys the rules, which is not uncommon in early childhood.
