A minister was making a home visit to one of the younger families in his parish. A five-year-old boy answered the front door and told the minister his mother would be there shortly. To make some conversation, the minister asked the little guy what he would like to be when he grows up. The boy immediately answered, "I 'd like to be possible." "What do you mean by that?" the puzzled minister asked. "Well, you see," the boy replied, "just about every day my mom tells me I 'm impossible!" How many of you have been called “impossible” when you were young?

So last week we had read gospel Luke together. And this very same story is written in Luke 6:35-52, which was located inbetween two separate scriptures that we have read together. So here is little background of today’s story, and also what we have read last week. Luke said, “He said to them, “Come away to a deserted place all by yourselves and rest a while.” For many were coming and going, and they had no leisure even to eat. And they went away in the boat to a deserted place by themselves.” This is what happened right before Jesus went to the other side of the Sea of Galilee.

As we’ve seen, large crowds who came to Jesus are the ones who had seen the healings that Jesus performed. While they were gathered around, it became a dinner time. So Jesus asked question to Philip, one of his disciples, and said, “where are we to buy bread for these people to eat?” Since many of us already know the story that we have read today, the…
