1) What is the process by which you decide what people are like and give meaning to their actions known as? What does this process consist of?
Interpersonal perception is the process by which you decide what people are like and give meaning to their actions, and the process consisted of three stages.
The first stage is selecting, which we select certain sensations to focus awareness on.
The second stage is organizing, which we assemble stimuli into convenient and efficient patterns.
The third stage is interpreting, which we assign meaning to what we have observed.
2) Identify and define the four principles that frame the process of how we select what we see, hear, and experience. There are four principles, and each principle is usage of the form of selection: selective perception; selective attention; selective exposure; and selective recall.
3) Define and provide an example of the uncertainty reduction theory.
The Uncertainty reduction theory suggests that one of the primary reasons we communicate at all is to reduce any uncertainty from what we saw and experienced. For example, if I enjoy swimming, I’m going to find others who enjoy swimming.
4) Describe the difference between the attribution theory and the casual attribution theory.
