The issue that is going on in the world today is the dilemma if by bringing stores such as Wal-Mart into small towns if that will push “Mom-and-Pop” stores out of business. Some people believe that the families that own the small stores in the town that their life is at stake. By having these businesses it is the way that they make a living and the way they can pay their mortgage and bills. The people who live in small towns usually all love the way that they live their life and if they did not then they would move to bigger cities. There are people who believe that by bringing in “chain” stores such as Wal-Mart into small towns it provides more affordable items. By having more affordable items people will start buying items from Wal-Mart rather than buying items from the “Mom and Pop” stores that are more expensive. Supporters on this side also talk about how if you buy the cheaper items, it saves customers more money; they will finally have enough money to make certain things happen that they have always wanted to do. I believe that by having and bringing Wal-Mart to smaller towns it is better for the residents overall. People that do not want Wal-Mart in their towns because they want to keep it a small town just might be out of luck. There is only so much you can do when there are cheaper products available in bigger stores. When times are in need, sometimes even if you don’t want to, you have to do the smarter financial choice.
