Being able to briefly and clearly describe what needs to be done, makes communication one of the best characteristics of an effective leader (Link 4, 2014). Honesty is another great characteristic of an effective leader (Link 4, 2014). Your actions and what you say are a reflection upon your honesty, and if you lead with honesty, you will find people willing to follow. These two traits are found in almost every aspect of Abraham Lincoln’s life, these are his greatest legacies that embody him in the afterlife. President Lincoln ability to positively communicate his message earning him nicknames like “The Great Communicator”, "Lawgiver" and, “Honest Abe”. As a nation is often judged by its heroes, so America should be judged by the effective leadership characteristics of Abraham Lincoln (States, 2014).
