Women’s Rights are Human Rights
On September 5, 1995, Hilary R. Clinton among others attended the United Nations Fourth World Conference on Women held in Beijing, China. By gathering together at the conference, Clinton was able to discuss the values of women’s rights. As the First Lady of the United States, Clinton felt responsible to speak up on behalf of all women who never had the opportunity to voice their rights freely and break the silence. “It is time for us to say here in Beijing, and the world to hear, that it is no longer acceptable to discuss women’s rights as separate from human rights.” With that said, the purpose of the speech was to protect and promote women’s right as recognized human rights. In the speech, Clinton focused on issues that mattered most, that goes unnoticed, which happen to be women’s rights violations around the globe. In other words, Clinton addressed problems relating to women, children and their families facing challenges in each country.
Hilary Clinton began her “Women’s Rights are Human Rights” speech describing contributions women around the world make. With that said, Clinton was recognizing women’s contribution as begin mothers, wives, learners, workers and leaders. Therefore, the sacrifice and qualities that women hold based on their contribution, shows the ability what women are capable of doing. With this intention, Clinton went on to address problems relating to women, children and their families facing challenges in each country.…
