Psychology, from the moment of its inception, has been a source of fascination for one and all. In its most generalized form, psychology can be understood as study of behavior and mental processes (Rathus, 2007). The technical concept of psychology has progressed through various meanings from the study of the soul, then consciousness, then to behavior. Now it is seen as a study of the cognitive aspects to constructive aspects. Like its meaning and conceptualization, trends in the field of psychology; pure and applied, have been continuously changing and developing to meet the needs of the society. But, the unquestioned fact of the nature is that everyone wants to be happy or feel happy, is surely going to help this concept to excel in the popularity.
Cyber-therapy is one of the most recent trends in the field of psychology. Cyber-technology uses Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) in a broader perspective for purposes of therapy and giving a technological touch to the practice of applied psychology (Fink, 1999). Therapist and the client are connected with cyber-technology or computer technology and therapist provides mental health services to the client. The biggest advantage of this therapy is its spatial-free nature i.e. free from necessity of a meeting place and the temporal-free nature; i.e. free from formal time constraints. Some people criticize this method, stating that it is not therapy, but merely a form of counseling (Holmes, 2011). This technique is the earlier stages, but due to its advantages over several constraints and its implications at a broad perspective and the fact that just about everyone is online in some fashion; this trend in psychology is will be ramped up and most likely become very popular.
I would opt for a career in positive psychology or cyber-therapy. As I perceive it, these trends not only develop one’s personal behavior, but social behavior as
