Ku Klux Klan comes from the Greek word kyklos meaning circle and the English word clan (Britannica). “The first amendment defends all forms of speech including hate speech, which is why groups like [the] Ku Klux Klan are allowed to utter their poisonous remarks,” indicated Salman Rushie, a person against the Klan (Rushie). The Ku Klux Klan was a group that criticized and attacked mainly blacks, but also American Indians, Asians, Catholics, and Jews. According to the constitution, all men are created equal, regardless of race or religion, thus, the Ku Klux Klan has no right to harm anyone. The KKK’s actions have caused the government to make new laws; the Klan doesn’t even follow the earlier original laws that have been made for decades. …show more content…
Not until 2002 did the Supreme Court declare that cross burning is meant to intimidate which is not a protected right (Zalman). Each Klan group has its own set of rules; the Confederate White Knights is one of those groups: the following are some of their rules which the members of the group are responsible to follow. You must always care for the white race and you must never have a personal relationship with anyone outside your race (Confederate White Knights “Rules”). You shall not have an intimate relationship with family and may not show violence towards other Klan member or members (Confederate White Knights “Rules”). You must not show any acts of terrorism or treason towards the United States (Confederate White Knights “Rules”). You also must talk to a superior officer about any problems you have with any other Klan member (Confederate White Knights “Rules”). You have to participate in Klan activities to gain rank; you shall always respect Klansmen’s properties and keep Klan members information private (Confederate White Knights “Rules”). You must swear to follow the Constitution of America and Declaration of Independence (Confederate White Knights “Rules”). You must fight foreign intrusions and must never break the law with other Klansmen (Confederate White Knights “Rules”). Immediately go to a superior officer of you feel that any acts are illegal
