School Uniforms are in a way very unique and different, but what is really the reason that students should have to wear them? The United States is supposed to be a country of freedom and individuality. Each and every person in the world is different, and by making people dress the same they cannot express themselves fairly the way that they would like to. It is sensible for schools to be able to make dress codes, but telling students they have to all dress the same is absolutely ridiculous. Having school uniforms is not necessary, and there are many reasons to prove why schools should not make their students wear uniforms. Many people feel that school uniforms should be worn. This would mean double the money for parents! They would need to buy their children two sets of clothes instead of just having one set without uniforms. This would also mean that parents cannot use hand-me-downs from other family members; they would have to go out and buy their own clothes.
This could present another large problem. When was the last time that you went to your neighborhood Wal-Mart and saw school uniforms just laying around? School uniforms are somewhat expensive, and in most cases they must be ordered. This means that if little Suzie gets something on her outfit that her parents can’t get out, they will have to go through the inconvenience of ordering a new one. This can cause problems for many parents; some may not have any internet access to order them. Also, if the outfit would be needed within a day or so they would have to get it shipped overnight and this is much more expensive.
School uniforms are typically supposed to be worn in private schools. This makes more sense and causes less drama because the parents and students signed up for these schools with the understanding that they would have to wear the uniforms. Putting a rule on students in regular high schools throughout the United States is not fair, simply because they never signed up to be put in a position like that.
